Courses Description
Advanced
Integrated Chinese
Goal of teaching:
to enable the students to correctly comprehend language phenomena in
Chinese, to understand the implied meaning of idiomatic expressions, to
express themselves correctly and fluently what they hear and what they
see, and abstract concepts, to correctly and properly express their
views and feelings, and to make their analysis and comment on things and
problems.
Textbook:
advanced course of practical Chinese (A), (B)
Form of teaching:
small class-size, taking practice and communication as the main principles, giving
training in reading comprehension, and in the meanwhile giving integrated training in
phonology, vocabulary, grammar, and four skills of listening, speaking
reading and writing.
Advanced Chinese Listening and
Speaking
Goal of teaching:
to help the students to increasingly raise their ability to express
themselves orally at a higher level, to communicate with different types
of people in different situations more correctly, properly and fluently;
and to strengthen their adaptability, resolution capability and judgment
in language practice.
Textbook:
Chinese conversation course (third year), advanced Chinese listening
Form of teaching:
small class-size, listening to on-the-spot recording of native
speakers of Chinese to obtain information and retell the recorded
materials by passage, conducting practical and standardized speaking
drills.
Advanced Newspaper
Reading
Goal of teaching:
To aim at developing the students ability to read Chinese newspapers and
magazines.
Textbook:
newspaper reading course A, B
Form of Teaching:
small class-size, intensive and extensive reading based on Textbook
reading and with current newspapers and magazines as supplements, and explanation by
the teacher of the language points carried in the newspapers, magazines, and of reading skills.
Communicating in
Chinese
Goal of teaching:
to provide the students with an opportunity to conduct one-on-one
communication ability with the teacher in order for the students to obtain help
as needed by each individual and improve their language competence.
Form
of teaching: discussion on certain topics with the help of the
teacher, in the course of which the teacher will be able to solve the
students¡¯ problems arising in the discussion. Teaching Strategies:
one-on-one communication the teacher and each student in the class.
